Day 3: Ijen Tour – Ketapang Harbour (B)

Around 24.00 / 01.00 you leave for the Blue fire tour at Ijen. We drive to Pal Tuding, the last monitoring station, from which you supposed to take a-3 km trek to the crater. About Mount Bromo

Mount Bromo is the most popular tourism object in East Java. Mount Bromo is interesting due to its status as an active volcano. It is of 2,392 meters above the sea level.     Best Time of Ijen Crater Tour

    April to October every year.

    It is not advisable to go here in Indonesia rainy season since the track can be muddy and slippery, and it usually closed if the weather is not okay.

    To see the Blue Fire you have to come here before sunrise. It takes 90 to 120 minutes to hike to the viewpoint. So make sure you get there earlier before. Minimum 2 hours before the sunrise in Ijen.

    If you don’t want to see the Blue Fire you can go later on. The advantage is the area will be not so crowded. But you can’t come here too late or in the sunset because the place closes at 12 pm daily.

    How Do You Go to Ijen Crater

    By Air

    To be able to reach Banyuwangi by plane, you can take an airplane route to Belimbing Sari Airport, Banyuwangi. The airport is the closest access to Ijen Banyuwangi Crater. Apart from Ijen Crater, the closest tourist destination is also the Baluran National Park which has African savanna fields.

    By Land

    Ijen plateau is usually accessed from the town of Bondowoso, from either the northern or the southern coast and Banyuwangi, Pos Paltuding, the starting point for the 8 km hike to Kawah Ijen, is 64 km from Bondowoso. The starting point can also be reached from Banyuwangi with a 4WD vehicle.

Walk to the beach (800 m) and sitting on the beach wait for the signals from park ranger who search for the turtle (Not allowed to smoke, turn on the flashlight, loud talking or making any loud noises). If we are lucky to find the turtle and watch the wonderful processing of laying eggs, we go back to guest house and have nice dream.

    Day 02. Sukamade Tour Package – Banyuwangi / Kalibaru (B,L)

    Wake up in the morning to witness baby turtle return to ocean. Breakfast on Sukamade Guest House. Check out and depart to Banyuwangi or Ketapang stop by at Rajegwesi beach. Drop at the hotel or Ketapang harbour. End of Tour. See you next time.

      Day 01. Yogyakarta / Surabaya – Transfer to Bromo (B)

      Morning after breakfast or earlier at 08. 00 am, check out, drive to Bromo Tengger Semeru National park area (9 – 10 hours drive – including stop at Solo). On the way stop by at Solo to visit Mangkunegaran palace (Optional), another last remaining Javanese culture center in Java. Extra visit to Triwindhu antique market.(Optional). Late afternoon or evening arrive at Cemoro Lawang village in Bromo area. Check in at hotel and free program. Tour Duration : 377 km

      Day 02. Sunrise Pananjakan – Mt Bromo Crater – Kalibaru (B)

      Early morning at 4 am, by 4WD jeep pass through shimmering sea of sand, drive to Mt. Pananjakan (2, 775 meter ASL). It is a great spot to enjoy spectacular sunrise. Trip then continued by riding on a horse back (Optional) to climb up till the rim of Mt. Bromo crater. Upon completion of Bromo Tour, return to hotel for breakfast and packing up, and checkout. Transfer to Kalibaru (5 – 6 hours driving). Afternoon arrive at Kalibaru and direct check in at hotel. Free program. Tour Duration : 185 km

      Day 03. Kalibaru – Sukamade Turtle Beach (B,L,D)

      Breakfast at hotel, pack up and check out form hotel. Depart to Sukamade with lunch en-route. Visit Rajekwesi beach. Along the way, you may see endless plantation of coffee, cacao, and traditional rubber tapping. You may even travel through dense Meru Betiri National Forest where the last Javanese tigers are still believed to roam the area. Stop at Teluk damai (Peace Bay and its possible and recommend to walk on the jungle road (half to one hour walk). Upon arrival at Sukamade, check in at simple guest house. Evening after simple dinner at the guesthouse, proceed to the Sukamade Beach for the Turtle excursion (sightings are not guaranteed). See the turtles slowly walk up ashore to lay their eggs. Upon completion back to the guesthouse for overnight. Tour Duration : 80 – 108 km

      Breakfast at the guesthouse, check out and transfer to Banyuwangi. Check in at hotel. Stay overnight. Tour Duration : 95 km

      Day 05. Ijen Trekking – Transfer out Surabaya or Ketapan Harbour (B)

      At 1 am (recommended time) by 4WD jeep from hotel depart to Ijen ranger post (1 – 1. 5 hour). Start light trekking up to get to Ijen crater. Ijen crater is a gigantic crater and is measured 1 km in diameter and 175 meter in depth. Finished this unforgettable trip (around 9 am), transfer to Ketapang ferry port to take ferry to cross to Bali island. End of service. Tour Duration : 95 km
