Another way is by using Yogyakarta to Bromo train. It is the option that people usually do. You will not go directly to the mountain by train, but you can transit to Surabaya first. After that go on by using taxi and go to Bungarasih bus terminal to catch up bus to Probolinggo. Is there any option to go directly from Yogyakarta to Probolinggo? Yes, there are. But using Yogyakarta to Probolinggo train would be uneasy because usually the train from Jogja to Probolinggo arrived late than those to Surabaya. So, it is recommended to take the transit to Surabaya then continue with bus or using train again to go to Probolinggo.

From Probolinggo to Bromo you can go on with using buses or ojek (motorbike taxi) near the bus station to ease your journey. Trip from Probolinggo to Mount Bromo is really something else, but after you arrive in Cemoro Lawang, you will feel relieved. In Cemoro Lawang you can stay in the near hotel if you want, or go directly to hike Mount Bromo in the dawn. There are many jeeps to drop you off in the mountain. Yogyakarta – Malang – Cemoro Lawang – Mount Bromo

Another way to get to Bromo is by passing Malang city. Why should using this route?  Malang to mt Bromo is the easiest way and is more saving time. You can have great moment to Bromo and Tengger Caldera better and quicker than if you use Probolinggo route. Take train Yogyakarta to Malang which spends 7 hours to go. After you arrive in Malang train station, use angkot (minibus), taxi, or motorbike taxi (ojek) to go to Arjosari terminal. Then find angkot that go to Tumpang. From Tumpang to Cemoro Lawang you can get ojek or other way is using shared jeep which is usually in Tumpang market.

Going to Bromo by Malang route is much easier, plus you can have more beautiful scenery of the mountain.
