During today’s tour we are going to visit two temples with both a different religious background; Buddhist and Hindu. The first temple in Borobudur Selogriyo Temple Tour we will visit is the well known Borobudur Temple. This Buddhist temple is the biggest in the world and is on the list of UNESCO. Early morning is the best to visit the Borobudur, before the crowds come in and the is still standing low. Even if you have a day which is less bright, don’t worry, this temple will give you an unforgettable memory as it gives a magical feeling to wander around between the stupas.

When we finish visiting this temple, we go for local lunch and then continue to our next destination. After around an hour drive we will arrive at a soft hiking trail which will lead you to our Hindu temple for today. This small Hindu Temple is called Selogriyo and was built even before the Borobudur. The temple is located in a valley with many rice fields.

Walking this trail we will pass villages where you can stop and have a chat with the locals and see how hard the work is to maintain these rice fields.  Learn more about the planting and harvesting process of rice and come back as an “expert” in rice fields. The trail is around 2 kilometers from the start and to be able to visit the temple, we need to climb around 200. The Borobudur is a temple you must visit when you bring a visit to Yogyakarta city. To enjoy this amazing temple at its best, come and visit it during Sunrise. After arrival at the Borobudur complex you will walk up to the higher levels of the temple, guided with a torch as it is still dark.  After a short while, you can enjoy an amazing scenery when the sun starts to get up. As soon the sun starts to rise, the Borobudur is covered by a mystical glow. But don’t worries, even when the weather is not so bright, you can still experience an unique atmosphere as the mist will be floating true the trees and stupa’s of this Buddhist temple. When the sun is up you get the opportunity to wander around at the Borobudur complex. As for the Sunrise you get a special ticket, you have the complex for yourself (with everyone who bought the special ticket) till around 6, when the main gates are opening for all public. Did you made enough pictures and you have seen the Complex, you can go for a coffee and snack at the restaurant (especially for those with a sunrise ticket, include) before we leave this beautiful temple behind.

After having explored the Borobudur Complex we are going to visit two smaller temples in the same area, called Pawon and Mendut. Next to Mendut you can also find a Buddhist monastery. After these the smaller temples we departure to another romantic spot not too far from the Borobudur. Here you join for a private coffee plantation tour where you can try the coffee they make from their own land. Afterwards a nice exclusive lunch is prepared on this romantic resort.
